Adding almonds to your everyday breakfast can also be beneficial. It doesn’t matter how you work them in through granola or oatmeal or sprinkled into your cereal or baked into the bread you use for your toast or even the butter you spread on your toast – just make sure they are there. The collagen on your face must also be protected and anything that jars your face will cause it to sag and weaken. This is something to keep in mind also if you work out at a fitness club. Use machines that let you keep your body upright and as immobile as possible – an elliptical machine is perfect – so your face won’t receive as much physical trauma. This, of course, rules out playing any contact sports – don’t take up boxing, for instance – that might cause trauma to your face. Help for Parents Whose Kids are Overweight

April 24, 2019 By Jackie

Today, it’s not just adults who are obese. The number of obese children keeps going up year after year. As childhood obesity is a serious issue, there are many parents who want to know exactly what they can do to stop this from happening to their own children. If you think that your child is becoming overweight, the best first step is to consult with your child’s pediatrician. There are also a number of things you can do to help your child develop healthy habits to avoid obesity. In this article, we’ll talk about a few steps you can take.

The beverages that your child drinks are just as important as the foods he eats. Many kids are hooked on soda and other high calorie and unhealthy beverages. You will also see kids having one of those energy drinks loaded with sugar. Many kids now also spend time in coffee shops, where they order beverages such as lattes that are high in calories. Fruit juices are also high in calorie and sugar and therefore contribute to the problem of obesity in children. Better give your child fresh fruit because the fruit juices you’ll find in supermarkets today are highly concentrated and loaded with sugar. Water remains the best drink for your child and even for you. However, there are healthy, low-calorie alternatives such as herbal teas.

You need to help your child cut back on consuming unhealthy beverages if he or she is to get to a healthy weight. Healthy, low-calorie snacks are better for your child if he or she is to prevent or reverse a weight problem. You want to break your child’s habit of snacking on junk food and replace it with healthier alternatives. There are many healthier alternatives, such as fruit, nuts, yogurt, carrots and celery. Granted, these are far less tempting than snacks that are sweet or salty, but you can encourage your kids to develop a taste for these healthier and less fattening foods. Rather than including a bar of chocolate in your child’s lunch for him or her to snack on, try putting a bag of trail mix.

For decades, milk has been touted as healthy. In fact, children are made to believe that drinking milk will make them strong and healthy. Today, there are differing opinions with regards to milk and dairy products. It’s not a good idea to let an overweight or obese child to consume too much milk and milk-based products like ice cream and cheese.

Although milk may not be good for them, children will continue drinking milk because they’ve been told early on in life that milk is good. If they drink chocolate milk, this contains even more calories. A low-calorie option is low-fat yogurt, which is an excellent calcium and protein source. If you’re not entirely convinced that milk should be completely eliminated from your child’s diet, the least you can do is put a limit on how much milk and milk-based products your child consumes.

In summary, there are many ways to help kids to lose weight. For one, you as a parent should start to learn more about nutrition and health. If your child already has a weight problem, work with your child’s pediatrician. The things we’ve shared here can get you started in helping your child get on the road to good health.

How Cardiovascular Stress Tests Differ

April 14, 2019 By Jackie

If you have symptoms of cardiovascular disease, then your doctor will refer you to a specialist. Depending upon your particular condition, cardiologists will choose a stress test that is appropriate. Stressing your heart is the purpose of a diagnostic test of the sort. Choosing the right one is what cardiologists will do. The goal is to stress your heart and then perform another test to reveal information. Now lets look at some different options for stress tests that you may be given by your doctor.

Have you heard of an echocardiogram? It is a very popular stress test given by cardiologists. This is a heart test that can help them understand what is currently happening with your heart. When you do the stress test, your physician can see what is happening with your heart while it’s going on. The heart will look completely different when it is in a state of rest opposed to being stressed. The stress test consists of getting the patient to exercise, making their heart rate rise to a certain point. Once your heart rate is high, or in an exercise state, the echocardiogram can be done. The stress test will reveal, via the echocardiogram, something is wrong. Your doctor will be able to make that determination. You could have blockages in your arteries and vessels, causing problems for your heart in many ways.

If you have a test that uses sound waves to produce an image of your heart, this is called an echocardiogram. You could use a treadmill to measure heart activity, along with a variety of other methods. The EKG was the predecessor of this test which utilized electrodes on the chest at strategic locations.

The EKG is actually produced by the electrical activity of the heart which is recorded. Essentially, both the EKG and the echocardiogram can be used by the doctor for one diagnosis. The treadmill exercise actually serves to send out sound waves to provide images of the heart based upon the patient’s heart rate. Since the images are like videos, a trained doctor needs to interpret the data.

It is essential that you have a word with your doctor about the different types of stress tests if he recommends you undergo one. The obvious differences are whether you see an image or an EKG. But you don’t want to settle for those obvious differences. You need to discover why one is preferred over another and this should be answered by a cardiologist. Usually, you’ll find it’s the specialist or cardiologist who decides on the test. The treadmill test is cheap when compared to a nuclear stress test. It takes about seven days for the radioisotopes in your system to break down. The EKG/treadmill test is the best option for you if you don’t like the idea of radioactive substances being injected into your system.

Your heart, as well as your cardiovascular system, can be checked out using a stress test. They can help you determine if anything wrong is going on. Another opinion may be something that you will feel comfortable with getting. Another stress test might be your only option, but it may actually help you.
